HEALER, STILL HUMAN
Therapy for
Healthcare Professionals
in Burr Ridge, IL
You’ve spent years learning how to take care of everyone else, often before anyone taught you how to take care of yourself. Whether you’re in school, residency, or years into practice, the pressure doesn’t let up, and “fine” became your default answer.
Therapy gives you a place to be the person, not the provider, and figure out what you actually need.
SIGNS YOU’RE ALWAYS ON CALL
Being always on call didn’t start with your first shift.
From your first exam to your first patient, you were trained to push through. Skip the meal, stay late, keep it together, and never let anyone see you struggle. Those habits helped you survive training, but they don’t switch off when you clock out, and over time they start costing you more than they give.
Therapy for healthcare professionals is about making room for what you’ve been carrying, from the patients you can’t stop thinking about to the relationships getting whatever’s left, and figuring out how to keep doing this work without losing yourself in it.
At Every Stage of Your Career
HOW I WORK WITH PROVIDERS
Hi, I’m Brittany
BURNOUT THERAPIST IN BURR RIDGE, IL
I spent years in a medical school counseling center, supporting students through exams and rotations. So you don’t have to explain what a call schedule does to your sleep, why you can’t just “take a day,” or what it’s like to carry a patient home with you. I get the culture, and I know how hard it can be to admit you’re struggling inside it.
Using evidence-based approaches, we work on what’s actually getting in the way: the burnout, the anxiety that follows you off shift, the perfectionism that kept you competitive and now keeps you exhausted, and the hard moments from work that never got processed.
In here, you don’t have to be the expert. I’m direct, I’ll be honest with you (kindly), and I’ll notice when you’re minimizing. A lot of providers are great at giving care and not so great at receiving it, so part of the work is letting someone be in your corner for once.
We’ll find a rhythm that works with your schedule and track what’s shifting along the way, so therapy feels worth the hour you carved out for it.
A CAREER YOU CAN SUSTAIN
What Balance Can Look Like
Off Duty
You leave work at work and actually rest on your days off, without the guilt.
Good Enough
You stop seeing mistakes as proof you don’t belong. Good enough is enough.
Present at Home
You show up for the people you love with something left, not just what’s left over.
Saying No
You turn down the extra shift without feeling like you’re letting everyone down.
Asking for Help
You let others support you without feeling like it makes you less capable.
A Full Life
You build a life that includes your career, instead of a career that swallows your life.

Questions From Healers
Being on the receiving end of care can feel strange when you’re used to giving it. If you’re wondering how this would actually work for you, start here.
-
Honestly? You don’t have to translate. I spent years at a medical school counseling center, so you won’t need to explain what a call schedule is or why you can’t just “take a day.” We still focus on you, not your job, but I’ll get the context without a crash course. I’ll also notice the provider habits that follow you into the room, like diagnosing yourself, minimizing, or trying to be the “good patient.”
-
What we talk about is confidential. I don’t contact your program, employer, or licensing board, and I won’t without your written permission, except in the rare situations where the law requires it, like an immediate safety concern. A lot of providers worry about this, especially around licensing and credentialing questions, and it’s something we can talk through together in our first conversation.
-
Nope. You’re in control of what you share and when. A lot of people worry the first session means reliving the worst day of their life, and that’s not how I work. We start by building rapport, safety, and tools, and plenty of people make real progress without walking through every detail. If and when we go there, it’s because you’re ready, not because a checklist says it’s time.
-
Yes. Healthcare comes with things most people never see: losing a patient, a code that went wrong, being yelled at, or a mistake you can’t stop replaying. Those moments can leave a real mark, even when your workplace treats them as part of the job. We work through them at your pace.

I use evidence-based approaches, pulling from cognitive and acceptance-based methods along with somatic and insight-oriented work, and I choose what fits you instead of running everyone through the same script. We track progress with check-in tools and your own goals, so you can see what’s changing. And if you ever want to know why we’re doing something, ask. I’m happy to show my work.
